American Idol - six degrees of seperation

So for those of you who follow American Idol and watched the San Francisco auditions, you probably saw a cutie by the name of Kai Kalama receive a golden ticket. Kai is the first cousin of my oldest three nephews. This is the first season I will follow American Idol AND vote because Kai is a cutie who comes from the kindest and most talented family you could ever hope to meet.

My oldest sister was married to Kai's uncle. Some of the best memories of my childhood involved family events where the Kalama's were present and we were able to enjoy their beautiful spirit and amazing talent. As a family we have relished the times when my nephews have had celebrations like graduations, mission farewells/homecomings, weddings and baby blessings where we would have the opportunity to visit with the Kalama family again and enjoy hearing them sing. There are many times when I long for that bond to this family of my childhood that was severed by divorce. The times we have met for celebrations since then are always full of love and hugs. There are not many things that compare to being considered part of an island family and the warmth, hospitality and talent that often comes with the culture.

The video below is of Kai's audition and below that video is another one of Kai singing with his brother and cousins at a wedding. My nephew Noa is on the far right in the second video. So if you watch AI watch for Kai. I hope he does well!

forever and a DAY! Hey Susan, Michelle Ferguson Harrison here - I got your link from Jenn's page! How are you all??? Looks like you have been busy! You seem so happy, I am glad life is so great for you :)
I need to go visit your sister she looks so happy too and you both are having babies??? CRAZY FUN!
Carter (my baby, who will be 4 in March) keeps asking when his baby sister will be here - which is nuts because David and I are in the middle of a divorce, forever right? Trying to keep a positive attitude... this is our blog, I have not updated in a while, but I will soon :) http://oremharrisons.blogspot.com/
